The Showcase of Homes Christmas Tour 2009, "A Marlin
Christmas", was a great success. December 5th was truly a
day when the entire city came together and offered visitors, as
well as locals, a chance to "officially usher in the holiday
season." The Marlin Revitalization Association first tour
of homes began with a pancake breakfast and the annual Chamber
of Commerce Christmas Parade. It also featured a tour of historic
Calvary Cemetery and an oral history at the Hot Mineral Water
Pavilion as well as several other attractions. And, of course,
Santa was available for pictures. The MRA's mission to revitalize
the city with highlights on historic value and timeless treasures
within the city was truly evident. A donation of $1,000.00 from
tour proceeds is earmarked for the local Meals on Wheels program
to be officially presented in the near future. Plans are also
underway for the 2010 tour although a date has not been announced
yet. Watch this website for updates.
